Oyster Sticks
O-320

Description:
Made of PVC plastic tubing, gray in color.

Dimensions:
Length 1.98m, (6.5'), diameter 2.22cm, (7/8").

Weight:
8oz, ½ lb.

Use:
Oyster stick collectors are used in the collecting of gigas larvae.

Capacity:
Average collection per collector is 400-500 animals with high records of more than 1000. If sticks are to be used for final growout, 200 animals per collector is ideal density.

How it is used / deployed:
Wild or remote set collection oyster larvae. Juvenile, intermediate, or final growout can be achieved using raft culture, by hanging oyster sticks directly beneath the rafts. They can be deployed singularly or on a rack system. The oyster sticks must be acclimatized (leached) in local water for at least three months before actual usage. The longer the oyster sticks are allowed to leach, the better the oyster set as leaching allows the PVC material to release gases and removes some of the elements that deter the oyster set. If time is a problem, the sticks can also be dipped into a slurry solution.

Features / benefits:
Cost-efficient if used for full-term growout, less expensive than Chinese Hat Collectors, can be used indefinitely.

Manufactured in Canada.
